As a ‘deemed Community Housing Provider’ (CHP) approved by the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, we are committed to working closely with key stakeholders to assist Maori land trusts to realize their aspirations to provide quality affordable housing for Whanau while simultaneously helping them to build capacity.
As a developer, we build communities that have regard to the Ngā Potiki cultural landscapes and seascapes and empower residents. Our comprehensive Te Manawa o Papamoa development at Te Houhou will eventually comprise of up to 300 homes on 27 Ha and is intended to cater ‘for a broader housing need that reflects current market trends and aspirations’.

Ngā Pōtiki ā Tamapahore Trust
Key Housing Goals
Crown estimates record our current Ngā Potiki population sitting around 2500. The local suburbs of Arataki, Te Maunga, Papamoa, Kairua and Welcome Bay are areas traditionally populated by Nga Potiki whanau.
However, as our tribal estate diminished through questionable land sales and public works takings for a rubbish dump and sewage ponds, and other activities to service the growth of Tauranga, Ngā Potiki people were forced to live outside this traditional area.
Achievements to date
Te Ohaaki a Miriama Papakainga
Ngā Potiki project manages Te Ohaaki a Miriama papakainga development on behalf of the Pirihima Whanau Trust. This development consists of 6 x 2 bedroom modern units located adjacent to Tahuwhakatiki marae. Each is carpeted and a generous grant from TECT provided for the installation of whiteware, drapes and curtains.
Housing Repair and Maintenance Programme
Our housing program is not limited to ‘new builds’ but extends to upgrading older existing family homes to run more efficiently and thereby reduce costs of heating, power and water. A comprehensive insulation, repair and maintenance program to upgrade family homes in 2015 proved to be hugely successful and subject to funding support from Te Puni Kokiri, the project will be offered again in 2016 / 2017 to those applicants who meet the criteria.

Social Housing Reform Transfers
The Kainga Community Housing Partners consortium comprising of Morrison and Co PIP Limited, Compass Housing Services Co Limited, Programmed Maintenance Services Limited, Tapuika Iwi Authority and Ngā Potiki a Tamapahore Trust is one three consortia invited to submit bids to the New Zealand Government to acquire 1120 state owned houses in the Tauranga area.
